The latest September issue of Shueisha’s Bessatsu Margaret shoujo manga magazine has revealed on Thursday an upcoming live-action TV drama adaptation of Wataru and Aruko’s ‘Vanishing My First Love’ (Kieta Hatsukoi) manga. The adaptation is set to air in Japanese local stations on October.
The official Twitter account of the magazine also posted updates on the latest issue with some announcements.
The romantic comedy shoujo manga started serialization in Bessatsu Margaret on its July 2019 issue. The latest sixth volume is set for release in Japan on August 25.
Story writer Wataru Hinekure comments on the manga receiving a drama adaptation:
Thank you for the dramatization. I'm really looking forward to seeing the new Aoki and his friends with the wonderful cast and production team!
Hinekure won the special prize during the first LINE Manga Indie Shueisha Girls Manga Grand Prix. Illustrator Aruko was popularly known for her ‘My Love Story!!’ (Ore Monogatari!!) which received a live-action film adaptation as well as a TV anime adaptation in 2015.
Synopsis by MAL:
A heated rooftop confession takes place between two men, but not all is as it seems. The good-natured Souta Aoki has had his heart stolen by the angelic smile and kind actions of his female crush Mio Hashimoto. Unfortunately, he is devastated when she lends him an eraser with another classmate's name—Ida—engraved on top. When Kousuke Ida spots his name on the eraser, he is led to believe that Aoki is the one harboring romantic feelings for him. Aoki is left struggling to clear up the situation alone without revealing Hashimoto's feelings for Ida. Fake and honest pinings mix as misunderstandings abound in this heart-pounding triangle of first loves.
