The official Twitter for the TV anime adaptation of Shinkoshoto's "The Strongest Sage With the Weakest Crest (Shikkaku Mon no Saikyō Kenja)" light novel series has announced on Sunday during the GA Fes 2021 event that the series is receiving a TV anime adaptation. A promotional video for the anime was streamed on the official YouTube channel of GA Bunko and a key visual was posted on the anime's Twitter account which opened today.
The TV anime is animated by animation studio J.C. Staff with Noriaki Akitaya serving as the series director and scripts are written by Hiroki Uchida. The main cast members include Nina Tamaki as Matthias, Sayumi Suzushiro as Lurie, Haruka Shiraishi as Alma and Shiori Izawa as Iris.
The series is based on the Japanese fantasy adventure light novel series by Shinkoshoto which was originally published as a web novel in the online website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. It has been collected into 12 volumes as of December 2020 by SB Creative in their GA Bunko imprint with the first volume published in 2016.
GA Bunko describes the series as:
In a certain world, there was someone who excelled in magic combat, and people called him "Sage." Seeking the strongest combat art, he devoted himself to research every magic and combat art in existence, and the conclusion he arrived at was very cruel: "My body is not fit for magic combat." Yet he didn’t give up. He sealed his own soul with a magic art and was reborn in a far-off future, and the magic theory in the completely changed world he saw there was of unbelievably low level.
