'The Dragon Dentist' ONA premieres TV anime on September 12

The official Twitter account of BS12 (World Hi‑Vision Channel, Inc) has announced that a two-part television anime series for Ōtarō Maijō's The Dragon Dentist will broadcast on Sept. 12, 2021, on their Sunday Animation Theatre block.

The Dragon Dentist (龍の歯医者, Ryū no Haisha) is an eight-minute-long original net animation (ONA) written and directed by Ōtarō Maijō. It follows the story of Nonoko Kishii, whose task is to care for the teeth of the dragon who protects her nation. The short animation was first shown at the Tokyo International Film Festival in October 2014.

In this country where dragons live...


According to mythology, dragons help people and people help dragons through a contract. The story takes place in the "Land of Dragons. The protagonist is Nonoko, a rookie dentist who protects the country's guardian god "Dragon" from tooth decay. As the war with the neighboring country intensifies, one day she finds a young soldier from the enemy country passed out on the dragon's tooth. The boy's name is Bell, and he has been brought back to life from inside the giant tooth by a mysterious phenomenon that dragons are said to cause before a major disaster. Bell is bewildered by the situation he finds himself in. Nonoko encourages him and accepts him as the dragon's dentist. The two are caught up in a fierce battle, and eventually come to terms with their own destinies...an adventure fantasy on an unprecedentedly grand scale!
