The official website for the TV anime series adaptation of Fuse's "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" light novel series has revealed on Sunday that the second half of the second season of the anime is scheduled to begin broadcasting on July 6, 2021. Its third promotional video (PV) was also revealed featuring the opening and ending theme song for the second cour. (PV is region-locked as of writing).
The opening theme titled "Like Flames" is performed by Thai YouTuber MindaRyn and the ending theme titled "Reincarnate" is performed by Japanese voice actor and singer Takuma Terashima.
8 Bit is animating the second season of the series, with the staff and cast members from the first season reprising their roles.
The first season of the TV anime series adaptation was animated and produced by animation studio 8 Bit, which aired from October 2018 to March 2019 with a total of 24 episodes. The series was directed by Yasuhito Kikuchi, with Atsushi Nakayama as assistant director, Kazuyuki Fudeyasu handling series composition, Ryouma Ebata designing the characters, and Takahiro Kishida providing monster designs. The series is based on the Japanese fantasy light novel series written by Fuse, and illustrated by Mitz Vah. that was serialized online between 2013 and 2016 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō. It was acquired by Micro Magazine, who published the first light novel volume in 2014. Sixteen volumes have been released as of March 2020.
It also has received a manga adaptation published by Kodansha along with three manga spin-offs published respectively by Micro Magazine and Kodansha.
A spin-off anime series based on the Slime Diaries: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime manga was also scheduled to premiere in January 2021 but has been also delayed to April 2021 due to COVID-19. Eight Bit will also animate the series, with Yuji Ikuhara directing the series, Kotatsumikan writing the script, Risa Takai and Atsushi Irie as character designers, and R.O.N composing the music.
