The original manga series is written and illustrated by Sōichirō Yamamoto which was first serialized since June 12, 2013 in Shogakukan's shōnen manga magazine supplement Monthly Shōnen Sunday Mini. Three years later, the manga transferred to Monthly Shōnen Sunday magazine on July 12, 2016. As of February 2021, it has been collected in fifteen tankōbon volumes and inspired three spin-off series.
Recently, with the manga Chainsaw Man, the manga won the 66th Shogakukan Manga Awards in Shonen category held last January 2021.
It inspired two seasons of TV anime with the first season airing from January 8 to March 26, 2018 and the second season from July 7 to September 22, 2019. Animation studio Shin-Ei Animation animated both the seasons.

The series features the daily life of Takagi, who loves to tease her classmate Nishikata, and Nishikata's failed attempts to get back at her.
