Solo Leveling artist and Redice Studio CEO Jang "Dubu" Sung-rak has died due to cerebral hemorrhage.
Redice Studio announced the news today on its official Twitter account. Below is their official statement.
Dubu passed away on July 23, 2022 due to a cerebral hemorrhage while suffering from a chronic illness. The funeral was kept private as this was the wish of the bereaved family.
Dubu is most famous for being the illustrator of the webtoon adaptation of Chu-gong’s web novel, Solo Leveling. As of writing, the webtoon’s Kakao page has accumulated over 48 million views. The webtoon published its final chapter on Dec. 29, 2021, giving the series a total of 179 chapters.
The Japanese TV anime adaptation by A-1 Pictures is slated for release in 2023.
