The official Twitter for the TV anime series adaptation of Aya Kanno's "Requiem of the Rose King (Bara-Ō no Sōretsu)" manga series has announced on Tuesday that the previously announced anime series is scheduled to begin broadcasting this Fall. No other details were revealed as of writing.
The original Requiem of the Rose King Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Aya Kanno has been serialized in Akita Shoten's Monthly Princess magazine since October 2013 and collected into 14 tankōbon volumes. The series is loosely based on the Shakespearean plays Richard III and Henry VI, Part 3 which follows the character of Richard III during the tumultuous Wars of the Roses (1455–1487) period in English history.
Viz Media, which publish the English version of the series, describes the story as:
Requiem of the Rose King follows Richard Plantagenet III through his house York's continuous struggle against the House of Lancaster for the throne of England. The country is divided by the two families grappling for power -the Yorks and the Lancasters. While real war occurs, Richard is also fighting with himself, the unsteady politics of the court, and his own desires to be king. . .
