ONE PIECE has set a smooth sail in the entertainment industry, both the manga and its TV anime adaptation, reaching significant milestones, making it one of the most widely celebrated shounen series. The manga’s 57th volume released on March 2010 has record-slamming sales of 3 million copies, making it the highest in the history of Japanese publication. The series broke its own title with the release of volume 67 on August 2012 with more than 4 million copies sold. Hence in June 2015, ONE PIECE set foot to Guinness World Records as “The Most Published Comic Series by a Single Author”.

ONE PIECE has truly exceeded its bounds and earned its place as one of the best-selling Japanese manga series of all time, with a total cumulative sales of 490 million.

Last August 2020, the 35th issue of the 2020 Shueisha's Weekly Shounen Jump magazine (Issue 35) teased that Eiichiro Oda's ONE PIECE manga series is "headed toward the upcoming final arc". It was recalled that in a YouTube video published September 2019, Oda reported that he "wants to end it in five years." - pertaining to the ONE PIECE story.

The 1000th chapter of ONE PIECE was published in the 2021 combined issue (5th and 6th) of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on January 4.
