The official Twitter for the TV anime adaptation of Ryousuke Takeuchi and Hikaru Miyoshi's "Moriarty the Patriot" manga series has revealed on Wednesday a thank you illustration from its series director Kazuya Nomura to commemorate the end of the broadcast of the second cour of the anime series. The final episode of the series’ second cour which recently-aired in Japan marks the end of its 24-episode broadcast since October 2020.
The TV anime adaptation of the series is animated by Production I.G and is announced as a split-cour with the first cour airing from October to December 2020, and the second cour from April 2021 to June 2021. It is directed by Kazuya Nomura with Tooru Ookubo designing the characters and serving as chief animation director. The series scripts are written by Gou Zappa and Taku Kishimoto, and the music is composed by Asami Tachibana. The series consisted of 24 episodes.
The series is based on the Japanese mystery manga series written by Ryousuke Takeuchi and illustrated by Hikaru Miyoshi. It was serialized since August 4, 2016 in Shueisha's shounen manga magazine Jump Square and has been collected into 13 tankōbon volumes as of November 2020. The story is based on Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes series. It is a prequel and follows the youth adventure of Holmes' nemesis and mathematics prodigy William James Moriarty.
