Class 1-B pushes hard and fast, Shinso’s inexperience shows, and Class 1-A struggles!
EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS
Summary
The first match between Class 1-A (with Shinso) versus Class 1-B ramps up as the students showcase their power and brilliance. Class 1-B uses overwhelming power to take the upper hand but Shinso’s power proves to be troublesome.
Surprise Attack!
Jurota Shishida (quirk: beast) and Kosei Tsuburaba (quirk: solid air) start the fight with a highly effective ambush showing off their awesome quirks honed through rigorous training. Shishida is especially threatening with his ridiculous power! The attack surprises the entire team of 1-A and forces them to fight at a disadvantage.
Not Just Plain Brainwashing Anymore
Hitoshi Shinso shows up bigtime during this fight (well, the episode’s name focuses on him). His voice changer proves to be an invaluable tool and the binding cloth (thanks to Aizawa-sensei) gives him an extra fighting edge. In fact, his mere presence in the battlefield adds confusion into the mix as communication between allies is threatened. Shinso’s inexperience in battle shows but his determination along with the team’s help makes up for it. Aizawa is obviously Shinso’s mentor and here’s a bit of cheeky trivia about them: they both like cats.
Lowkey MVP?
True to the episode’s title, Shinso debuts with a bang and proves himself worthy of the hero course. However, one student of Class 1-A silently shines and shows off her fighting prowess: Tsuyu Asui. She has no lightning or brainwashing or hardening but she still whoops her opponents.
VERDICT
Author's Rating: 8.4/10
The first match was a great back-and-forth fight between the two classes! The initial overwhelming ambush by Shishida and Tsuburaba looked very bad as Koda and Kirishima were both captured but 1-A made a huge comeback. Although not intensely action-packed, the fights were fun to watch especially since it showed off the students’ capabilities. Shinso fumbled a bit but he pushed forward and proved his strength. Tsuyu-chan absolutely wrecked house with her tongue, tactics, and drop kicks — it was great to see her shine. The match was close and omega entertaining. This first battle was a good indication of what’s to come: exciting clashes between students. Looks like viewers are in for more fun fights!
