The official Twitter for the TV anime adaptation of Coolkyousinnjya's "Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid" manga series has announced on Wednesday that an extra episode for the second season, Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S, will be released next year.
The unaired episode titled 'Nippon no Omotenashi (My Attendant is a Dragon)' will be distributed through Blu-ray & DVD 'Vol. S' which is scheduled to be released in Japan on January 19, 2022.
A promotional video for the extra episode has been released.
The recently-concluded 'Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S' premiered last July 7 on Tokyo MX, ABC TV, Aichi TV, and other local channels in Japan. The "S" in the show's second season title stands for "Super Supreme Second life Starts". Kyoto Animation returned for the animation production. The production is spearheaded by Tatsuya Ishihara with Yasuhiro Takemoto serving as the series director. Yuka Yamada is in charge of the scripts, Mirai Kadowaki is designing the characters, and Masumi Ito is composing the music.
The cast members from the first season reprised their roles for the second season.
The TV anime series was an adaptation of the manga series of the same title written and illustrated by Coolkyousinnjya. The manga was serialized in Futabasha's Monthly Action magazine in May 2013 and two spin-off manga, one by Mitsuhiro Kimura and the other by Ayami Kazama, are serialized in Monthly Action on December 2016 and August 2017 respectively.
The first season of the TV anime adaptation produced by Kyoto Animation was aired in Japan between January and April 2017.
Crunchyroll describes the anime as:
Miss Kobayashi is your average office worker who lives a boring life, alone in her small apartment–until she saves the life of a female dragon in distress. The dragon, named Tohru, has the ability to magically transform into an adorable human girl (albeit with horns and a long tail!), who will do anything to pay off her debt of gratitude, whether Miss Kobayashi likes it or not. With a very persistent and amorous dragon as a roommate, nothing comes easy, and Miss Kobayashi’s normal life is about to go off the deep end!
