The official Twitter for the TV anime adaptation of Akihito Tsukushi's 'Made in Abyss' manga series has revealed on Wednesday the first key visual for its second season installment under the title "Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun ("Made in Abyss: Retsujitsu no Ōgonkyō")".
A promotional video was also released.
The anime is scheduled to begin broadcasting in 2022. The cast and staff from the previous season are reprising their roles for the sequel.
The Made in Abyss manga series written and illustrated by Akihito Tsukushi has been first serialized since 2012 as a web manga in Takeshobo's digital publication Web Comic Gamma. It has been collected into nine tankōbon volumes since then.
It has been adapted into a TV anime series with the first season airing from July 7 to September 29, 2017 in Japan consisting of 13 episodes. It was animated by Kinema Citrus with Masayuki Kojima served as the series director and Hideyuki Kurata as the series scriptwriter.
It also inspired a sequel film titled Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul which premiered in Japan on January 17, 2020.
