About L'Arc-en-Ciel
L'Arc-en-Ciel (French, 'The Rainbow', stylized as L'Arc~en~Ciel) is a Japanese rock band founded in Osaka in 1991. With over 40 million records sold, their concerts sold out 16 times at the 55,000 capacity Tokyo Dome. They were the first Japanese act to headline at Madison Square Garden. In 2003, they were ranked 58 on a list of the top 100 Japanese pop musicians by HMV Japan. Their world tour in 2012 brought them to 14 cities around the world, including New York, London, Paris, Hong Kong, Taipei, Jakarta, Seoul, Bangkok, Shanghai, and Singapore.
Currently, their members consist of hyde/HIDE (lead vocals), tetsuya/TETSU (bass, backing vocals, bandleader), Ken (guitars, backing vocals), and yukihiro (drums, percussion).
When tetsuya/TETSU takes over for vocals, the group switches to their alter-ego, P'unk-en-Ciel (stylized as P'UNK~EN~CIEL), with hyde/HIDE playing the guitar, Ken the drums, and yukihiro the bass. P'unk-en-Ciel's songs have a more punk sound, and their music is usually heavier and faster with a different tone thanks to tetsuya's vocals.
