The official website for the TV anime adaptation of Tomohito Oda's "Komi Can't Communicate (Komi-san wa, Komyushō desu.)" manga series has revealed on Tuesday a key visual along with a promotional video (PV) officially announcing the upcoming TV anime series adaptation. The series is scheduled to begin broadcasting in October 2021.
Animation Studio OLM is in-charge of the animation production. The production is headed by Ayumu Watanabe with Kazuki Kawagoe serving as the series director. The scripts are written by Deko Akao and characters are designed by Atsuko Nakajima.
The cast includes:
Aoi Koga as Shouko Komi
Gakuto Kajiwara as Hitohito Tadano
Rie Murakawa as Najimi Osana
The original Japanese manga series is written and illustrated by Tomohito Oda. It has been serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shōnen Sunday since May 2016 and Shogakukan published the series into individual tankōbon volumes which has been collected into 20 volumes as February 18, 2021 with the first volume published on September 16, 2016. As of February 2021, the first twenty tankōbon volumes had over 5.2 million copies in circulation.

On her first day attending the elite Itan Private High School, the main setting of the story, Shouko Komi immediately receives an overwhelming surge in popularity due to the unprecedented, stoic beauty and refined elegance her classmates perceive her to possess. However, only Hitohito Tadano, an exceedingly average schoolboy assigned to the seat next to hers, is able to have the opportunity to discover that, behind her bishōjo appearance, Komi has serious issues in communicating with others. Tadano sets out to help Komi on her quest to find 100 friends.
