The official YouTube channel of the TV anime adaptation of Yasuhisa Hara's "Kingdom" manga series has revealed on Wednesday a promotional video for the currently-airing third season of the anime series as it enters the second half of the battle Saikokuboueisen.
They also revealed a new visual posted on the franchise's official Twitter account.
The third season of the TV anime adaptation of the series is animated by Studio Pierrot and Pierrot's subsidiary company Studio Signpost, with Kenichi Imaizumi directing the series. The scripts are written by Noboru Takagi and characters are designed by Hisashi Abe. Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto are composing the music. It premiered on NHK General TV (NHK-G) on April 6, 2020 and was later postponed after Episode 4 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Broadcasting resumed last July 2021.
The first season with a total of 38 episodes aired from June 2012 to February 2013 and the second season aired from June 2013 to March 2014 with 39 episodes. A live-action film was also released in April 2019.
The series is based on the Japanese seinen manga series written and illustrated by Yasuhisa Hara serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump since January 2006 and collected into 59 tankōbon volumes as of September 2020.
The manga provides a fictionalized account of the Warring States period primarily through the experiences of the war orphan Xin and his comrades as he fights to become the greatest general under the heavens, and in doing so, unifying China for the first time in 500 years.
