The official Twitter account for Gege Akutami's "Jujutsu Kaisen" manga series has announced on Wednesday that a new milestone was achieved by the manga as it reaches 20 million copies in circulation with physical and digital copies combined. The team behind the series showed their appreciation to the fans through the Twitter post and humbly invited them that if the fans liked the TV anime series, they should read the original manga as well.
The current count doubled in just a few months and the TV anime adaptation served as one of the major reasons behind the increased sales. On October 29, 2020, the manga celebrated its previous milestone of 10 million copies in circulation.
The Jujutsu manga series was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump since March 2018. The individual chapters are collected and published by Shueisha, with thirteen tankōbon volumes released as of October 2020. Shueisha also began to simulpublish the series in English on the app and website Manga Plus in January 2019.
A 24-episode anime television series adaptation produced by animation studio MAPPA has premiered in October 2020. The series is directed by Sunghoo Park at MAPPA and Hiroshi Seko is writing and supervising the scripts. Tadashi Hiramatsu is designing the characters with Hiroaki Tsutsumi, Yoshimasa Terui, and Arisa Okehazama composing the music.
