Japanese voice actor Yūma Uchida is celebrating his 29th birthday today, September 21.
Yuma Uchida (内田 雄馬) is a Japanese voice actor and singer affiliated with I'm Enterprise and King Records. In 2017, he received the 11th Seiyuu Awards Best Rookie Actor award for his role as Hayate Immelmann from the anime TV series Macross Delta. In 2019, he won Best Actor in a Leading Role in the 13th Seiyu Awards for his role as Ash Lynx from the anime Banana Fish. He made his singing debut in May 2018 under the King Records label. His older sister is fellow voice actor Maaya Uchida.
Yuumataso (as he is called by fans; with "Taso" originating from the mispronunciation of his sister's name) is a voice actor who has been on the rise in recent years, making him no stranger to voicing protagonist and deuteragonist characters. In addition to Ash Lynx, he has voiced other tough, masculine main characters such as Kyo Sōma from Fruits Basket (2019) and Ginshi Shirazu from Tokyo Ghoul:re. On the flipside, he has also explored smart, introverted roles such as Ritsuka Uenoyama from Given and Megumi Fushiguro from Jujutsu Kaisen.
While Yuuma is a name most people in the anime community already know thanks to his big roles from 2020 to 2021, anime fans since the mid to late 2010s may have already recognized him in his earlier roles such as Kazuomi Oga from ReLIFE (2016) and as Nakai from Teasing Master Takagi-san (2017).
Currently: Yuumataso is going strong with various anime roles in 2021, including Tatsuya Yoigoshi from Burning Kabaddi, Riku Momosaki from Re-Main, and Walter from The Duke of Death and His Maid. He will also be voicing Masato Hanzawa from Sasaki and Miyano in 2022.
Did you know? Yuumataso is releasing his second album Equal tomorrow, Sept. 22, 2021. Check details here!
