Japanese voice actor Makoto Furukawa is celebrating his 32nd birthday today, September 29.

Makoto Furukawa (古川 慎) is a Japanese voice actor and singer previously affiliated with Space Craft Entertainment. He became a freelancer in September 2018 until he joined the record label, Toy's Factory, in December 2018.

Makonyan (as he is called by fans) has a deep, masculine voice that makes him highly suitable for confident, strong-willed characters (who often excel in combat). Some of his notable roles that demonstrate his voice's personality include Yūtarō Kindaichi from Haikyuu!!, Saitama from One-Punch Man, Miyuki Shirogane from Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, Hatsuharu Sōma from Fruits Basket (2019), and Sherlock Holmes from Moriarty the Patriot.

Currently: Makonyan has a strong list of characters this 2021, such as Kei Iura from Burning Kabaddi, Rufus Glenn from Mars Red, Takekazu Ejiri from Re-Main, and Guiltia Brion from Visual Prison.

Did you know? Makonyan was born in Kumamoto Prefecture. Listen to his dialect here! (third audio sample)
