Japanese voice actor Kenichi Suzumura is celebrating his 47th birthday today, September 12.
Kenichi Suzumura (鈴村 健一) is a Japanese voice actor, narrator, and singer who is affiliated with and a representative of INTENTION, a voice acting company he founded in March 2012. He made his debut in the voice acting/seiyuu industry in 1994 as Morley in the TV anime series Macross 7. He married fellow voice actor Maaya Sakamoto on August 8, 2011.
SuzuKen (as he is called by fans) is one of the biggest names in the seiyuu industry, alongside fellow veterans Mamoru Miyano and Junichi Suwabe. With a voice acting career since the 1990s, you've probably heard SuzuKen's distinct voice everywhere from TV anime, live-action films, drama CDs, radio shows, commercials, etc.
While SuzuKen has played a diverse set of roles in anime alone, there's something about his voice that you just can't miss. It's funny and playful, with a distinct lilt. This makes him highly suitable for playing complex roles, from innocent, funny characters, to arrogant, bossy ones. Examples of his diverse roles include the snarky-but-kindhearted Hikaru Hitachiin from Ouran High School Host Club, the lazy-but-secretly-competitive Atsushi Murasakibara from Kuroko's Basketball, the cheerful Momotarou Mikoshiba from Free!, and the scheming Iyami from Osomatsu-san.
Currently: SuzuKen continues to be a prolific figure in the seiyuu industry. He recently voiced the prodigy Ren Takaya from Burning Kabaddi and is currently voicing supporting character Saito Uebu from Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan.
Did you know? SuzuKen loves dogs. He owns a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Yorkshire Terrier, Momo and Ivy, both female. His favorite ice cream is Pino.
