Japanese music duo YOASOBI will be releasing a new song titled "Love Letter" on August 9, 2021. The song was born from the "Letter Song Project" jointly planned with the radio program "Nippon Post SUNDAY'S POST”.
The new song is described as a "a magnificent song that vividly depicts love with various feelings and how the music spreads.".
The song's jacket cover visual was unveiled.
The "LetterSong Project" is a project in which YOASOBI creates music based on a letter from a listener, which started when YOASOBI appeared on the same program in August 2020. From August 30 to October 31, 2020, the project has solicited letters with the theme of "Thank you" from program listeners, and from the letters received from all over the country, the letter of Hatsune, a sixth grader at that time, was selected and decided to make it into a musical piece. The brass band club of Osaka Toin High School, who co-starred in the UNIQLO "UT" collaboration live "SING YOUR WORLD" held last month, participated in this work. It is a magnificent song that vividly depicts love with various feelings and how the music spreads.
The YOASOBI music duo is composed of vocaloid music producer Ayase and vocalist Ikura. They debuted with the single "Yoru ni Kakeru" in December 2019 and became successful on the music chart in Japan with charting atop for three consecutive weeks and 2020 year-end on Billboard Japan Hot 100.
The duo then released their second single, "Ano Yume o Nazotte" on January 18, 2020, based on Sōta Ishiki's Yume no Shizuku to Hoshi no Hana, following the success of their debut.
Their seventh single "Kaibutsu", translated as "Monsters" in English, was used as the opening theme song for the second season of the TV anime series adaptation of Paru Itagaki's "BEASTARS" manga series. The music duo also performed the anime's ending theme titled "Yasashii Suisei", translated as "Gentle Comet".
The duo won several recognitions and awards including the recent 2021 Space Shower Music Awards as the Song for the Year for their song "Yoru ni Kakeru", and the 2021 Japan Gold Disc Award as one of the Best 5 New Artist.
