The official Twitter of NX by Netflix has released on Tuesday a trailer for the upcoming anime series adaptation of Kousuke Oono’s hit comedy manga series "The Way of the Househusband (Gokushufudō)". The trailer reveals that the series is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Netflix on April 8, 2021.

The new Netflix original anime series is produced and animated by animation studio J.C. Staff with Chiaki Kon serving as the director and Susumu Yamakawa as the script writer.

The anime adaptation of the manga was announced on October 27 during the Netflix Anime Festival 2020.

The Way of the Househusband follows Tatsu, an infamous and feared yakuza boss nicknamed "the Immortal Dragon", who retires from crime to become a househusband so that he can support his kyariaūman wife, Miku. The episodic series depicts a variety of comedic scenarios, typically wherein Tatsu's banal domestic work as a househusband is juxtaposed against his intimidating personality and appearance, and his frequent run-ins with former yakuza associates and rivals.

A live-action television drama adaptation of the series of the same title premiered last year by Nippon TV.

The series is based on the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kousuke Oono of the same title which was published in the online manga magazine Kurage Bunch since 2018. The series was received positively by critics making the series won several awards including the "Best Overall Series" and "Best Comedy Series" award at the Pixiv Comic Ranking held in 2018, and "Best Humor Publication" at the recently-concluded Eisner Awards 2020. The series was also placed as a runner-up in the Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards last 2018 as the "Best Web Manga Series".
