'Demon Slayer Season 2 - Entertainment District Arc' TV anime reveals first key visual, airs 2021

The official Twitter for Koyoharu Gotouge's "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" manga series has revealed on Tuesday, during the special program "Kimetsu TV - New Information Announcement Special", the first key visual for the upcoming sequel of the series titled "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Entertainment District Arc" through a promotional video. The series is scheduled to begin broadcasting this year in 30 local stations in Japan.

Last February 14, 2021, it has been announced that the TV anime adaptation of the series is getting a second season titled "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc". The official YouTube channel of ANIPLEX Japan has also streamed its first trailer. The long-awaited sequel is slated to begin broadcasting this year, 2021.

A key visual was also revealed featuring Tengen Uzui that will be voiced by Japanese voice actor Katsuyuki Konishi. The sequel is expected to cover the Red Light District (Entertainment District) from the original manga.


Animation Studio ufotable is returning to animate the sequel with Haruo Sotozaki also returning as the series director. Akira Matsushima returns to design the characters. The cast from the first television anime season will also reprise their roles, including Katsuyuki Konishi as Tengen Uzui.

The first season of the anime television series adaptation by Ufotable was aired in Japan from April to September 2019. Following the airing of the final episode, a sequel film entitled "Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train" was announced and premiered in Japanese theaters on October 16, 2020. The film is now the highest-grossing animated film of all time dethroning Hayao Miyazaki's 2001 anime film "Spirited Away".


The series is based on the "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" manga written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge. It was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020, and its chapters collected in 21 tankōbon volumes as of July 2020. It is published in English by Viz Media and simulpublished by Shueisha in English on their Manga Plus app.


The anime series has received critical acclaim, with critics praising the animation and fight sequences. It has been considered one of the best anime of the 2010s, and has received numerous awards.
