Official accounts have announced an upcoming TV anime adaptation of Akihiko Higuchi's comedy manga series Edomae Elf (English title: Otaku Elf).
While there is no specific release date as of writing, it was revealed the anime will be produced by studio C2C. Some of their notable anime works include Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina (2020) and PuraOre! Pride of Orange (2021).
As the title suggests, the story is set during Japan's Edo period, specifically at the Takamimi Shrine in Tokyo. In the shrine resides an elf deity named Elda (CV: Ami Koshimizu), who withdraws from the world (the phenomenon of hikikomori). Elda is under the care of miko/shrine maiden Koito Koganei (CV: Yuka Ozaki), who can't help but be exasperated by Elda's laziness.
Edomae Elf is a manga series written and illustrated by Akihiko Higuchi. The comedy/slice-of-life series has been serialized in Kodansha's Shonen Magazine Edge magazine since June 2019.
