The official website and Twitter of the Japanese comic magazine Shogakukan Comic have announced on Tuesday that Fujimoto Tatsuki's "Chainsaw Man" and Yamamoto Shouichirou's "Teasing Master Takagi-san" manga series has won the manga award in the Shonen category at the recently-concluded 66th Shogakukan Manga Awards.
Previously, "Maiko-san chi no Makanai-san" manga series by Aiko Koyama won the same award in 2019, "Dr. Stone" manga series by Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi in 2018, "The Promised Neverland" Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu in 2017, "Mob Psycho 100" by ONE in 2016, and "Haikyuu!!" by Haruichi Furudate in 2015.
The Shogakukan Manga Awards is one of the major manga awards in Japan, sponsored by Japanese publisher Shogakukan. The Awards is held annually since 1955 to recognize serialized manga and features candidates from a number of publishers.
The current award categories are: Jidou (Children), Shounen (Boys), Shoujo (Girls) and Ippan (General).
