Hajime Isayama's "Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin)" manga series has officially ended its publication after almost 12 years with the final volume being released today in Japan. The official YouTube for the Bessatsu Shounen magazine has also streamed a promotional video last Friday for the final volume release. In the June 2021 Issue of its magazine, a full-color version of the author's interview was included.

Illustrated and written by Isayama, the Attack on Titan manga series has been serialized in Kodansha's monthly Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in September 2009 and ended on April 2021. It has been collected into 34 tankōbon volumes as of June 2021 with first physical volume released way back March 17, 2010 and was completed on June 9, 2021 with the final 34th volume release.

Attack on Titan has become a critical and commercial success. As of December 2019, the manga has over 100 million tankōbon copies in print worldwide, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time. It has won several awards, including the Kodansha Manga Award, the Attilio Micheluzzi Award, and Harvey Award.

It is set in a world where humanity lives within cities surrounded by enormous walls that protect them from gigantic man-eating humanoids referred to as Titans; the story follows Eren Yeager, who vows to retake the world after a Titan brings about the destruction of his home town and the death of his mother.

The manga inspired a four-season TV anime series adaptation which began airing in 2013. A 25-episode first season ran from April to September 2013, followed by a 12-episode second season aired from April to June 2017. A 22-episode third season was broadcasted in two parts (cours), with the first 12 episodes airing from July to October 2018 and the last 10 episodes airing from April to July 2019. The 3rd season ended with episode 59. The first three seasons were all animated by WIT Studio, but the animation production was then transferred to animation studio MAPPA who then received the rights to produce the sequel.

The current and fourth season which is labeled as the 'final season' of the anime started its broadcast last December 6 and recently ended its 16-episode broadcast last March 28 with the announcement of the second part of the season. The final season will continue in Winter 2022 with Episode 76.
